I say what's really the hardest is when you get members to join, even if it's exchanges or deals or whatever. Hardest is making them stay in their own free will and become active.

Discussion Hub has members that join then became active and never left and posting around. I like that :) However, I always had a hard time trying to get members/people doing that for me. they come and do what they need to do and then leave until I have time to make another deal.

Post exchanges aren't the best method at times.

I find that engaging with members that do post and visit regularly is key to them returning. That means reaching out to them via PM and replying to their posts and making sure to include a question to encourage further correspondence.

This is the million-dollar question.

This is one of the hardest things to achieve for almost any forum. I suggest being active on other forums and eventually inviting people over. But don't force people to join that never helps.

Getting members to a forum was not this hard back in 2008 or so. But technology changed, people adapted etc.

My current forum has over 3600 members with 10-20 active almost all the time. It was originally for refugees from a site I closed down in like 2014, so it picked up pretty quick...

Yeah, this is the easiest way to get members on a forum. Unless that same community just moved to Discord. I have noticed some communities follow this. They close down or archive the forums and move to Discord.

Yep, just pure patience.. And never giving up.
All you can do. And going with the flow I’ve learnt you don’t do it for the views, clicks or activity you do it because you love it and the members will follow.

Discord is okay, but I don't see it taking over forums any time soon....

DIscord is a place for people to come and talk and use voice chat, but when posting things in discord and tends to go away and takes so much time to look for that comment.

Yep, forums make it easier to find things. I like how organized forums are compared to a discord chat.

Well, DIscord was not made for that anyway.
True, plus the pace of conversations is way too fast to follow. It's like one of those WhatsApp groups that you get added to, and you wake up to 100 messages in the morning.

I agree. I'm part of a large gaming Discord server and I'll post something then logoff, not wanting to wait for a reply, only to come back and find a million new posts and mine is gone. lol
