I’ve certainly known about Edge, but last I remember, Microsoft still had both. Didn’t know they discontinued IE, but can’t say I’m too broken hearted about it.
I have never blatantly gone out of my way to boycott a brand. I guess it's possible that I could, but I'd rather shop smart. I'll go for the best quality, the best price, the most convenient, etc. My belief system doesn't have to align with the brand.
It's certainly possible to live a day without using it. I would prefer to not be without it, but it's definitely possible. I've been on cruises for vacation a couple times, and I ditched my phone completely during them. Didn't want to risk getting charged for roaming.

But seriously, I'd say it should be split 50/50 between the groom and the wife. The wife's family can chip in and cover that 50%, and/or the groom's family can chip in and cover the groom's 50% as well. It shouldn't be all on one...
