Can you tell a secure website from one that isn’t?

When you’re shopping, banking, or passing along any sort of sensitive information, make sure the site address starts with “https” instead of “http.” The “s” stands for secure, and many browsers will represent that with a little padlock icon to indicate use of https, which uses encryption to scramble and help secure data from prying eyes.

Another form of protection from malicious sites is McAfee Web Advisor, which can help steer you clear of adware, spyware, viruses, phishing scams, and sketchy downloads.

I have been using Bitdefender pro for some years without any issues.
What do you use, and have you had any issues?

Yeah, it's usually easy enough to tell a secure site from an insecure one, especially now that insecure sites are starting to be flagged by browsers themselves more and more. Secure transmissions, a little bit of research into the company, secure payment gateways, all pretty good indicators of a trustworthy site versus an untrustworthy one.

Bitdefender is a great tool, completely agreed, been using it for years now!

I look at the link before even clicking on it to see if the site is secure, then I look at the overall content on the first page to see if I will go any further.

Check for the SSL certificate (basically the padlock symbol). And make sure I'm actually on the correct website. If it's a somewhat unknown site that I'm doing shopping on, I'm make sure to use PayPal too

This is the easiest way for me to know if a website is secure or not. I don't stay on any website that's got no active SSL certificate because they can't be trusted with your data especially when you're buying anything on the site with your card details.
