It's so interesting to read the laws from different countries on a Citizens Arrest. My question to you is if someone attempted a citizens arrest on you and wasn't even a police officer, what would you do and would you fight back? Security guards seem to think they can do what police officers do and it happens sometimes.

99% it just not worth it. Just call the authorities and let them handle it. UNLESS of course your in harm's ways. Then do what you gotta do to ultimately gets out of the situation or at least more time for the cops to arrive to "finish" the job.

Citizens should exercise care if they decide to make an arrest. A wrongful arrest could lead to civil and/or criminal charges. It's best to let the proper authorities make the arrest,

I think that a few decades ago this was much more of a doable thing, but now you are just opening yourself up to being sued for one of many things, and probably losing even if you were in the right.

I agree 100%. I think the thing is, in case of an emergency, most people will just hold that person down. I'm not sure how many people will bother talking about a citizens arrest.

I wouldn't think of doing this. There's too much of a risk that you're going to get sued in court if you try to do this, even if you are in the right. Plus, there's a chance that some crazy person might try to shoot you if you attempt something like that, regardless of who is wrong or right. If they are wrong, then they might be more likely to shoot first and ask questions later. It's better to just let the authorities handle this and I'll stay out of it.

It's not just the crazy people either because if you're in the US, and you use a weapon to shoot a bad guy, there's a danger others will assume you're the bad guys and will shoot you in defence.

Which is exactly why a society where everyone has an arsenal of guns at home and can walk about with the ability to shoot anyone else is a really incredibly stupid idea.

If anyone wants to roll out the old "guns don't kill people..." thing, then yes, people kill people, but the guns definitely help.
