I was never a fan of nicknames. I always liked being referred to by my name. However, there was a time where two guys that I had a class with in high school that referenced me by my last name because there were too many other guys that had the same first name. Reasonable and that was fine.

I was called Howard from an old username for 6 years on another forum.

I use to have a nickname of "Rambo" when I was in high school. But there's a big, long story that goes with that. Nobody calls me by that nickname now.
