Having watched Money Heist and Squid Game recently, it's interesting to see the different opinions people have about the dubbed versions.

Which do you prefer?

Same feeling as you guys, to be honest. It's just extremely weird especially since the people that normally do the dubbed voices don't have the same emotion or urgency as the characters. Just feels extremely weird

I prefer subtitles. But I also have to say I like watching a foreign film in subtitles while it's dubbed in the English language Provided they have the two fit. The mouth movement doesn't get me as much as if they say something in English but the subtitles say something else.

For me, as someone who's always dealt with dubbing as well as subtitles, I prefer subtitles. They're by no means perfect but a lot more of the acting (and to some degree, directing) gets across by using the original dialogue.

Always subbed, never dubbed. Dubs take so much away from the acting and how the director intended the characters to come across. Also, it can only be healthy to be exposed to new languages, even when you do not understand them.

I prefer dubbed myself. I tend to focus too much on words on the screen and feel like I miss out on the scene itself.

Completely depends on how good the dubbing is. If the actors are in character and bring all of the emotion and feeling to the character then that is great. IF the dubbing feels forced and like someone just kind of reading over the action then I definitely prefer the subtitles.

I honestly like subs even if the audio is in English tbh, for no reason other than sound mixing can be garbage a lot of the time.
More specifically on topic though, I prefer subs for foreign media but tbh if I'm watching/playing in the evening then the lack of english audio can just make me sleepy lol

I think the only instance I always go for the dub is the Persona games (except Persona 2), I imagine the subs are way better but the first time I played P3 was with a dub so it feels wrong to play the others with subs.

I've never seen a dubbed series that doesn't seem... awkward somehow. I prefer subtitles. Unlike some, I don't mind having to read the subtitles to know what is going on. ^^
