FIFA: EA Sports to break away from football body

I can see why they did it. FIFA was getting a bit too greedy with the deal and trying to get way too much just for the naming rights and the rights to the World Cup. I don't like how EA operate but I support them on this.

It's a shame they chose such a shitty name though. EA Sports FC is awful!

Means there'll occasionally be more than two football games to choose from.

But I've got to wonder if they'll go further in this direction, and start dropping others like NHL, NBA, F1...

I wouldn't mind the competition, to be honest. Might give EA a bit of a kick to start caring about the game a bit more. But I would imagine it's going to take a lot of effort for someone new to start a football game.

It's a huge project to start from scratch, especially when EA is so dominant, but you never know...

New entrants wouldn’t have the licenses for some of the big leagues and clubs so they’re going to struggle straight away anyway. It’s the main thing that led to PES lagging behind FIFA for ages

I have a theory that Fifa jacked up the licensing fee just to get EA out of the picture. I'm pretty sure Fifa has had enough of their nonsense.

Brave of them, to be fair. I'm not sure any other company will be willing to pay that price and if they do, they're going to fill that game with microtransactions to make that money back. And that's not going to go down well with gamers
