I think it's starting to decline after huge popularity, still gonna be played, but same as World of Warcraft declined, I think this genre will too in a few years. Unless we get a survival MMO with VR stuff like in Swords Arts Online anime lol

As long as it makes money, really. It'd be nice if survival/crafting mechanics didnt make their way into every future big budget game but realistically they'll just be replaced with "the next big thing".
