Mandatory Military Service: Good or Bad?

Should everyone in a country be required to serve in the military?

What are your thoughts?

I think there should be some sort of mandated service, yes, it helps instill structure and an understanding of what it is to sacrifice. Does that mean everyone needs to be in frontline positions ready to go to war? No, of course not, but some type of service.
