Protection Add-Ons for Smart Phones

By protective equipment, I mean device add-ons which provide you with additional protection. Do you believe this is a necessary? Why or why not? Without a doubt, in my view, it's essential because it could prevent you smashing your smart phone which could cost a lot of money . I have a glass screenprotector and an hard back case for my iPhone 6 plus. and it's worked like a charm for me.
 
I use a Lifeproof Fre case for my iPhone XR as a light form of additional protection. Although with the AT&T device accident insurance I have a quick way to replace it if worst comes to worst.
 
I have a transparent/clear case for my Galaxy S20 from Spigen. It looks good and offers some decent protection for the phone as well. I don't use a screen protector for it though. I'm pretty careful with my phone so I don't think I would need anything else to protect it.
