A victimless crime?

Such a thing doesn't exist, they're crimes for a reason.

I remember hearing that speed limits for roads are often designed knowing people will speed and trying to keep it safe to speed. So mild speeding is probably both victimless and intended.

Most traffic laws assuming you use common sense (Running a red light in the middle of the night where there are literally no other cars on the road for example) and don't make a habit out of it.

Agreed 100 percent.

There is no real definition of a “victimless crime” because crimes of this nature do not really exist. There are however a number of statutory offenses that if engaged in, may not have an obvious victim.

One example of a victimless crime is smoking marijuana at home by yourself. You are acting as an individual and no one else is harmed by your activity. Another example is prostitution. When two consenting adults engage in a sexual act in exchange for money, no one is harmed and no one's rights are violated.

Disagreed.

You're not looking at the bigger picture of what is involved with the growing and procurement of marijuana, for you as an individual to smoke it.

Equally prostitutes are often forced into such work, and even if those two adults consent there's a pretty good chance of it inflicting some harm, whether direct or indirect.

When you do drugs YOU are the victim :p

But i think that to configure a crime you have to do some harm to another individual, at least here it's that way..

Pirating games or movies. Most people who do this just wouldn't play the games or watch the movies if they had to pay, so the company wouldnt get money either way

I'd say most crimes require a victim, whether a person or entity but then again things like speeding is victimless because you're not committing speeding against someone or something are you?

You're robbing the copyright holder of money so I wouldn't call this a victimless crime.

I love when people try to justify pirating outside of just being superficial. “I like free stuff” isn’t a good enough answer apparently.

I've heard some people say that doing drugs is a victimless crime because it doesn't hurt anyone else. But it steels your loved ones that get hooked on the drugs and can ruin their lives though so I kinda disagree.

What are true victimless crimes?

Traffic violations, gambling, public drunkenness and trespassing are all victimless crimes. A victimless crime is where there is no identifiable victim. The offense is against the cultural norms of a community, that community's values, attitude and beliefs.

I don't think that counts as a victimless crime, to be fair. You're still hurting someone even if you didn't have the intention to pay for it in the first place.

I would definitely agree with the traffic laws aspect in certain situations. There's a road near me that is restricted to 20mph due to a school being nearby. But the stupid restriction is still in place during school holidays.
