So, one debate that was taking place in the UK a few months ago was whether internet service providers should block adult content until people proved their age. Once they did that, they would get a card or number of some sort which could be used to prove your age online.

Obviously, there were a lot of privacy and freedom concerns. Does anyone here support something like this?

I think all the mobile phone providers do it because O2 has the same thing if you use mobile data to access any adult sites. I think a GTA forum is blocked for me as well lol.

So if I lived in the UK, I'd have to fax my birth certificate to my Internet provider just to view Pornhub?

Yikes. We don't have to do that in the States.

The only thing that proves though is that the person paying for it is an adult not that any specific person within the household isn't using it to access porn or other adult content. It all sounds rather d umb and just a business/government attempting to appear they are doing things to curb porn access to minors while not actually accomplishing said goal.

Well not anymore because that idea was shutdown... for the moment anyway. But the premise was that you would have to go into a shop, show your ID and buy one of these card/pass things.

Kind of a like a card with a code on the back?

I think so. Honestly not too sure because they scrapped it (for the moment anyway) so not much information on how it would actually work was shared/

I do think that's a good idea in the future. But I'd also want it heavily regulated against pedophiles even with proxies, VPNs, and TOR. I watched that movie "HOT GIRLS WANTED" and porn is actually heavily based on sex trafficking and prostitution. Some of the women sleep with the sponsors and sometimes producers. There's a lot of illegal stuff that's happening off camera and amateur 18 year old girls are basically getting taken advantage of. You don't really start caring about it until you have a daughter and then you think, "would I want her out there on the Internet having sex for all to see?"

Honestly, when I was a teenage boy, I would be out trying to get porn. Anyway, when I was that age, there was no internet. Well, anyway, the point being the only thing stopping me from getting porn - from any source - would be blocks on it.
