Are games easier or more difficult than a decade ago?

More on the hard settings/ multiplayer but with much better instructions and different tactics available allows for many different approaches to a difficult task.

I think they’re harder because they have more mechanics you have to learn and use at the same time. Like Fortnite and building or rocket league and flying. You can play with out the latter but gives you a lot more options when you can do them

I would say that video games seem harder now than they were a decade ago. Technology has improved a lot and with that so has gaming and now with the mechanics and games feel more realistic, it has made games a little more on the difficult side than I remember.

I do miss the days when you had three lives and once they were gone you had to start again.

It depends on what game you're playing. Some games like Bloodborne and Eldenring are too difficult for me to play.

What about dark souls? :p

I'd rather play a "mid-easy" game. I'm supposed to be entertained.. not stressed. Too difficult = not fun.

I think the difficulty now is more "fair" than NES games. Me dying now is due to my lack of skill, whereas some of those hard NES games were hard for the wrong reasons. Not to include how cryptic some of those games were. Don't have Nintendo Power? Good luck figuring things out.

I've tried out some retro games before and thought they were more difficult than I'm used to.
Especially the ones where you had to start at the very beginning since they didn't have checkpoints.
