I recently upgraded to a new work computer and I was blown away by the sleek look of the Dell! I've always viewed these computers as clunky in the past but my new computer is anything but. I believe it's from the Inspiron series. It's pretty awesome. I left my computer at work but next chance I get I'll note down the model and specs. Are you familiar with Dell computers?

We have some at work, they'd be nice if they were used in a normal situation, but there are so many group policies and stuff installed on them that their RAM and CPU's are maxed to the point of them being almost useless.

Sounds like your IT department isn't doing a good enough job of optimizing them.

@Sharon hope you got extended warranty, Dell is prone to high failures.

My work upgraded to the Dell Precision 15 (5560) and I really like it.

Tbh a lot of the software is cybersecurity related, though it seems like a lot of it falls under “performance be damned, at least the information is protected”.

I'm curious what all the software they got going.

I had no involvement of the actual purchase of the computer. I have no idea what kind of warranties came with it.

Just be sure to back up important data often.

Tanium is one of the worst ones. It takes whatever CPU resources you’re not using, and then maxes it out to 100. It doesn’t matter what you’re using. You’re trying to do work on a maxed out CPU, and everything freezes up.

My main issue with Dell in the past has been that they often used custom components, so they were actually pretty tricky to work with at times from a hardware standpoint.

I've no idea if they still do, it's been a while since I've bought Dell.

Dell computers are good. I have used the Dell laptop in the past. I wish to continue to use the dell laptop or even the desktop if required. I realized that some of the computers or the laptops can be pretty good if there are service centers around.

People are more apt to complain than they are to praise. Considering Dell is in the top slot for the market share you're bound to hear more horror stories. To be completely honest, I don't think Dell is at its best right now as a company. There are not only complaints about their laptops, but also they're prebuilt and, in general terms, they kinda suck.

I am using Dell G15. It is a budget gaming laptop. I am really happy with the performance. Prior to this, I was using HP. I have also used Compaq. Do you remember this brand?

My sister used to get free Dell computers from her job if memory serves me. They were okay , but this was years ago. I've never seen a new one.

My work uses Dell computers, not sure what model it is though. I've never owned a Dell, so I couldn't tell you if they're good or not. :V I've always went with HP in the past.

Dell laptops are good, nice components quality overall and never had issues with them so far, i had an i5 7th gen at my previous job and everything was fine, i'd say it was even better than my actual ryzen 5 hp laptop.

Anyway, laptops are really tricky, you shouldn't rely on them for heavy related work.. my desktop pc has 8 noctua fans and still gets 75°C marks..

Back in 2007 when I briefly worked as a PC Tech, I was told that Dell "sucked", because they would use non-standard parts in their builds which were hard to fix/replace. But they may have gotten better since then, so I'm not going to knock them.

I believe our first family laptop was a Dell and it was extremely bulky! It's quite funny to think about how big it was compared to my current HP laptop. I've seen a few on Amazon and they definitely look a lot better now.
