With the streaming services from Hulu to Netflix getting exclusive things and a combination of them equaling the price of cable, would it be possible that it will make a comeback?

It’s possible with all these competing streaming services all with locking exclusive content.

I do know piracy recently started going up for that reason alone.

Never went down for me when it comes to piracy, but I wont admit anything XD

I take it your internet connection would need to be very strong to handle streaming adequately. Are people ready to pay nearly $100 a month?

Oh, also stuff like Roku doesn't have local stuff - unless you're in a big city.

No. They’ll make their money through jacking up internet prices. But outside of the paid special channels like HBO, they can’t create content that can say or show anything like Netflix and the others can. Cable channels for the foreseeable future will still be governed, and aren’t as readily available whenever you want things and that will hold them back.

I think Cable and Satellite tv services are in their death throes. They're going to have to come up with new ideas and better service methods to keep their customers.

They absolutely are. I've seen at least a dozen external HD antennas for many locations. They cancel cable and pickup Netflix and hulu (which most have already) and boom $22 a month have all the tv they need.

Backup they think about if you think about it and the older age group still use them

No, I think it's very unlikely that cable TV will ever come back. Streaming is just too convenient, and it's much easier to find what you want and avoid things that you don't care to watch.

My friend just rented an apartment and part of the rent included cable TV service. So, around here cable TV is still very much alive.

I doubt they will make a comeback. Streaming is a lot more convenient and cost effective for most households. I don't see how cable companies can make pricing of cable more affordable than streaming.

It'll be less of the cable companies getting cheaper, and more of the streaming services getting dumber. It's already dumb where they all have exclusive shows, so they have the capability to having you own all of the streaming services to where it will cost more than paying for cable.

Got an offer in the mail for a cable company: Mediacom: Internet 60 + Local TV - 50+ channels and internet speeds up to 60 Mbps - $49.99/month for 12 months.

What do you think of the price?

I've always just paid the Internet and did Netflix to be honest.

This pisses me off so much. The whole problem with cable was that it just costs so much to get the big bundles. And over here in the UK, you still wouldn't be able to get all the channels, especially for live sport.

And now streaming services are going down that route too. Netflix lost a few shows to Disney+ which is quite annoying. We're already at a stage where you might need to subscribe to 3-4 platforms to watch all the shows you like.

Is it true that in the UK you have buy a TV License just to watch anything on TV?

Live TV, yeah. It's not very expensive and funds the BBC as a whole (BBC News, BBC Sport, CBeebies etc.)

But we have a thing called Freeview where you get over 100 channels for absolutely free. Not sure if the US has something similar. That's why I don't subscribe to cable and rely on streaming services for my entertainment.

We have Over-the-air and free-to-air television that do not necessitate any monthly payments but have very limited amount of channels to choose from.

This is what I do as well.

Are there any decent channels at least? I think for us, there are probably about 10-15 decent ones out of 100+.
