Electric Cars

No, but it’s possible that there will be more of them than gas cars.

Probably eventually. If they standardize the charging port and have more places to charge. Then you can couple that with the inevitable price drop, it can happen.

Eventually, maybe? Depends on the issue of charging the car, many people who live on the street and apartment buildings without parking would be screwed.
Part of that can be alleviated by having more charging stations like we do with gas stations. Right now the issue is the lack of stations, which isn’t a problem for people who have something like a garage, but is terribly inconvenient for those who don’t.

Eventually, of course. But I think it will take a long time for it to happen unless electric cars become a lot cheaper than petrol/diesel cars which I can't see happening right now.

I believe the UK will ban the production/sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 so the majority of cars will be electrical by around 2035 here I guess

They need to make these more affordable. We have so many charging stations around here but you know what, I've seen maybe ONE car utilize them. People in our area live in the country, we're not rich so we can't afford cars like this.

Plus, they need to make electric cars to be more sustainable. When the battery needs to be replaced, it is destined for the landfill. They don’t make EV Batteries to be recyclable yet.

I heard that the most expensive part of an electric vehicle is the battery. As soon as they can figure out a way to lower that cost in making the sooner we can have affordable electric cars. I love the idea of owning one but it doesn't make sense financially to acquire one at this time for us.

Problem is electric can't be refilled as fast as a gas tank.

I believe they are the future, but I do not think they are quite ready to replace all gas vehicles today. I also do not know if they truly will be the lone type of vehicle going forward after gas is phased either.

If given the choice and electric or hybrid or even solar cars were more affordable, would you drive one personally? Why or why not? I would, because I care about the planet's future. But there are a lot of problems with electric cars even, but I don't drive anyways myself, I just take walks in nature, and my caretaker does the errants for me personally so yeah. How about you? Would you drive an electric car for you personally?

Right now, as a new driver, I want to enjoy some nice petrol cars before moving over to an electric car, to be honest. Not ready for an electric car just yet

I like many of the perks of an electric car, but currently, they are not on my list as locally we have zero infrastructure for them, and dealing with days of snow-covered roads without power and such is still not something the industry has shown a lot of stretch in.

I'm also still very concerned about the long-term reuse/disposal of the batteries. There are many ideas and concepts, but just like the currently expiring solar panels of today, the only programs seem to be where people pay to recycle their stuff and this seems to be leading to just going to the landfill to save money.

EVs just aren't the answer, they wear down, they're essentially giant smart phones, destined to be bricked in a junkyard somewhere within the next dozen years or so. When the technology is refined, I see hydrogen being the way forward. Plentiful, easily refined, and, when filling stations are made accessible everywhere, the perfect solution for the long term. It's the same as filling up a petrol car, it's like driving a petrol car, and as the technology evolves, it will get cheaper to fill.

I believe the aim is to get everyone moved over to electric cars eventually but that is a worry. At the moment, the grids are already struggling with the amount of connecting to the power grid, before we could even switch completely to electric cars we would need to be sure the power grids could handle it.

I feel that it could be a very long time before everyone is using electric cars.

I honestly hope we're never all using electric cars, they're not the answer. They're a false economy at a time when people are desperate for an answer and they will not be a long-term option.
