I have a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard, however it's not split. When we were looking into a new one as this one is quite old & some of the keys don't work as well, the newer models are shaped way differently that it actually hurts my wrists. I never tried a split one. For those who have used an ergonimic before, how does the split one differ?

Ergonomic keyboards are... too much for me. I prefer standard keyboards. They may not be as easy on your wrists, but at least I know how to type on them. O_O

I did a temp job for a couple of weeks once at an office where all of the keyboards were split.

My tuping speed dropped for the first day, but after that it just felt normal, no better or faster but no worse. Maybe the plusses come after a longer amount of use.

I had to upgrade to them this year, my wrists were seriously hurting on a normal keyboard. I have a jelly comb one for work and I use a cloudnine mechanical keyboard at home.
I haven't seen a mechanical keyboard for sale for ages, didn't know that anyone was still making them. Cloudnine look like really good products, I'd like to give one of those a try.

Ergo keyboards are cool and easier to type on, no need to be in pain if you want to get one. I, for one, have been using ergonomic keyboards for almost 10 years, but had never experienced pain, just the discomfort of using a "normal" keyboard.

I had a Freestyle2 and absolutely HATED the key arrangement. I never missed so many keys in my life. It was easier to learn a full ortholinear layout than that wonky BS where all the modifier keys were almost in the right place but not quite.

AT least that it did the job while it lasted and you got the keyboard that you wanted.
