Has your PC ever been infected with any sort of virus? If so what kind was it and how did you get it and remove it? I remember getting a nasty virus once because my sister downloaded music off of Limewire. It was one of those malicious "anti virus" viruses, I ended up removing it and I didn't lose anything in the process either. I've also got one once from a pop up, again it was one of those viruses that disguised itself as a anti virus software. Now I have adblocker on whenever I visit free forum hosts, since that's actually where I got the popup from. (It was from just visiting Forumotion's support forum...)

I got them through p2p, but it was easily removed with help of my UNIX pc i still have.

Yeah. When I did file sharing like LimeWire, FrostWire, and other torrents. Torrents are a good way to get all kinds of malware and destroy your computer. When I got my first laptop, I treated it like shit. I went on torrents, didn't use antivirus protection. Sometimes it's the PC owner's fault. Getting a virus, trojans, and all kinds of malware can be avoidable if you know what you're doing. You just can't go click on everything you see on every website. You'll end up getting hacked or get something really bad that you cant get off.

Many times over, it's so easy to get it and even if you are being so careful it still comes. Even with firewall and software to block and router with a firewall, gets in. When this happens I act fast anyway and get rid of it.

I haven't had anything really bad, Last time I installed OS was over 5 years ago and no need to do a full clean install. and viruses I had aren't malware or bad, just a pain. Last week I downloaded a paid addon off from a known flight site and that came with a damn virus, was shocked but it did, but my system blocked it :)

I remember over almost 8 years ago that I had a very very bad malware that I had to do a full clean and install option. Was so BAD that it's something that can not be done since it was into the heart of the system

resident malwares are the worst, not even a format keep those away, even though you can still disable them by using other OS like MACOS or UNIX based.

You've gotta do some research on what to do first though it isn't always that easy.

I've definitely had encounters with them in the past, but it's been a good number of years now since I've really had one. The last I remember getting hit with was hidden in a stolen Rainmeter skin. This was back in like 2011 so I don't even remember what issues it caused, lol

Why is malware only on PC anyway? Why doesn't other platforms have the same problems?

You get it on android phones too! I've never really used tablets because i found it useless lol

I got one bad boot virus once that messed up my Facebook. However, besides that, not too many viruses lately. Anyway, though, my recent problem was a virus on my cellphone. That one erased my number and cost me around $50 to replace.

Not me but my Mom once got a rootkit virus. It went undetected by both Windows Defender and Avast Premium. She tried the the TDSSKiller utility from Kaspersky to get rid of it but that didn't work either. When all was said and done, the virus wiped her hard drive clean. Nothing was left. She had to reinstall everything from scratch.
