Wake Up To Reality!

Do you guys like to watch a lot of horror films? Or are you like me and refuse to watch them to ensure you can always get a good nights sleep?

I used to not be allowed to watch horror films when I was younger because I had an overactive imagination and would wake up in the middle of the night screaming because my mind would recreate a scene or scenes from the movie. Now though, I love them. I think I'm going to try to do the 31 Days of Halloween moviethon this year and try to watch a horror film for each day of October.

I've watched my fair share of horror flicks. I like movies like Aliens, The Thing, The Shining Hereditary, and Midsommar.

Not a big fan of horror movies but i do enjoy having them once in a while. I tend to go more into the Thriller ones.

My fav is the ring and Ju-On.

An American Werewolf in London.

I love everything about this movie, and it is the few movies in my life that I have seen numerous times over the years outside of the first Jurassic Park. I even finally went backpacking in the UK in 2019 because of it. I love the pacing of it, especially the beginning of the movie.

The second favorite would be The Witches for nostalgia reasons.

The movie that made me the most scared, was The Woman in Black, especially with a quality sound system.

Favorite from the last several years would be Hereditary. The last 15 minutes had me so genuinely terrified that sweat was coming from places I did not know could sweat..

I made a promise that i'd watch the scariest thing around this year, if it gets me i will never make fun of horror movies again. Give me your best shot!!!

What did you think of Midsommar?

I loved the movie. To make one thing clear. Christian is the main antagonist of the film. Not the Harga, although we see them doing sacrificial rituals on Christian and his friends, we get the idea that they are the bad guys in the story. But that's very misleading in the film. The film mostly focuses on Dani and Christian's relationship. It was Christian that pushed Dani to the Harga and it was the Harga that solved all of Dani's problems.

Dani was constantly being gas lighted by Christian and that her loneliness and constant exclusion by him and his friends made her a prime candidate for the cult. He wanted to break up with her, but was too much of a coward to end it. To make matters worse, he stays in the relationship and victimizes Dani on a day to day basis. Especially after her sister commits murder/suicide, he becomes even more brutal towards her. Because Christian feels like he's stuck with her and feels that it would be bad timing to end a relationship with someone, whose entire family just died. It's more for Christian's outter look. He doesn't want to look like the bad guy. Even though all of his friends know that he's miserable with Dani, they tell him to leave her. Which he should have done.

Pelle and the Harga see this during the festival. They noticed that Christian torments Dani. It's obvious that he blames her for his misery in the relationship. We see that he constantly ditches her during the ceremony.

And you can see that Pelle uses every golden opportunity to emotionally pull her into the cult more . Because her family was murdered by her sister, she had no one else. Dani lived because she was already broken and that is why the cult allowed her to live. There's this Youtuber who breaks down how the cult singles out Dani and talks about how cults work. I found it very educating and interesting. Perhaps you will too.

I'll save it to give it a watch later, share my thoughts after

I love horror movies, my all time favorite is the original Pet Sematary. Most movies based off of Stephen King's books are awesome, so I generally enjoy watching It (both the remake and original are great), The Shining (I prefer the 1980 film but the made for tv mini series was okay), and Cujo.
