How Do You Feel About Religion?

This, I know people who use it to enrich their lives and others... be completely consumed and destroyed by it. Its those who go out to ruin other lives that really irks me.
I'm an Atheist and honestly, I think organized religion is harmful to the masses. It's nothing but a form of mind control and makes you "fear" a so called God. And why should I accept this "Jesus"? Humans were around for 1000's of years before him. So what, all that doesn't count? Only 2000 years ago Christianity matters?
Having a particular religion can make people feel the importance of morality and strengthen their good conscience. It is how they can direct their lives in a good direction.
For me, I never dared to open up a conversation about religion. It will always a never-ending stories. I do not want to argue or defend myself with my religious beliefs.
I am more spiritual than religious. These days religion has become commercial.
I find this statement very contradictory. I will say that I disagree with your definition of indoctrination. When someone sits you down and begins teaching you a form of Theism or any other belief, you are being indoctrinated into that belief.
What about those who simply do not believe at all?
Religion has been a huge motivator for many wars. Take 9/11 for example. It was a religious jihad. 19 Muslim Terrorists set out to commit genocide in the name of Allah. 2,977 innocent people died because they were considered infidels. In the warped minds of the Al-Qaeda, they viewed the people they murdered as those against their religion. I think that's pretty cruel wouldn't you agree?
I don't feel anything about religion.
Religion used to be a tool to connect to divinity. But as it stands now, it is doing more harm because people are using religion to manipulate people and abuse people. At this rate, I sincerely wish religion is abolished because a few selfish people have made religion to become a tool of harm than of good.
I don't rate religion any longer. I believe as it stands, religion has done more bad than good for the society and should be totally discarded. But I know it is an age long institution and can't be thrashed like that.
