What weapon would you use to fend off a home invader?

Rather not disclose what weapons, if any, I have in my home :)
 
I have outside motion detectors and my house is fully alarmed. Good luck to any invader even getting near my house trying to get in.
 
I'm fairly sure anyone who is not American reads this and just thinks WTF?

People in the UK, Europe, Australia, wherever, do you have weapons ready to defend your home?

I don't for the record and am so much happier living in a society where I'm not scared of being shot by any random nutjob who has a whole arsenal of guns at their disposal.

Yeah, never thought about keeping weapons at home in case of a home invasion.

But if I had to, I would probably go for a baseball bat. Easy to swing and probably does enough damage if you hit the right spot

It’s definitely a cultural thing, because I’ve noticed that Americans and Europeans have different views on ownership of personal property.

I’ve seen countless castle doctrine debates, and they use the same example of: guy breaks into your house to steal your TV.

The Americans always respond with “I’ll beat that guy’s ass. That’s my TV”

The Europeans always responded with “I’ll just let him have it, If I can’t get it back from law enforcement, I’ll just buy another one”.

As an American, it just feels really weird to think of letting someone essentially walk off with your stuff.
 
I'd just booby trap my house Home Alone style. If someone wants something they better get thought my traps.

I'm not going to be happy to 'let someone walk off with my stuff'

BUT if we are in a decision where I have to make the choice between a confrontation with someone who let's face it is probably in a lot more fights than me, and may have a bigger, faster, better weapon that I do to hand, and if we are in the US probably has a gun, or waiting a couple of days and then having a new TV (which is insured anyway) then I'd rather not be maimed or killed over a piece of plastic and glass.
 
No guns. Having one creates a huge responsability and most people don't have enough of that to have one. Mental health is important.
