Male's child preference

In Nigeria and in Africa generally, there's this belief that one must always have a male child especially as a father or else you are a failure as a man. Do you country also have this belief?

In my country, we do not have this kind of preference. However, some traditional Chinese prefer a baby boy.

In India too but slowly the trend is shifting and now parents are fine with Girl child too and this is why things are slowing getting better now

It is rampant here in India. Government has banned fetus testing. Some do it clandestinely and abort a female fetus

Some traditional Chinese families may prefer to have a baby boy. But nowadays, especially in Hong Kong, my impression is there is no such preference.

Even though there are restrictions and bans but still we hear about cases where parents prefer to check the sex before delivery
