New York is now banning hotels from providing the small bottles of shampoo, lotion, etc citing waste issues.

What are your thoughts on that? Do you travel a lot and would that affect you?

I think that's going overboard. The state could have just simply passed a law where they aren't allowed to distribute free soaps and shampoos instead.

Definitely going a little overboard there, but understandable, I suppose.

I've never thought about the amount of toiletries that just get thrown away without any use. Wonder what hotels will do going forward? Dispensers attached to the wall in the bathrooms?

I've seen those and no way would I want to use one!! I am allergic to PEG after receiving the covid vaccine, so I NEED to know the ingredients in soaps, shampoos and conditioners at hotels. I have to bring my own wherever I go and even bought travel size containers to refill before I head out for travel if I need to fly.

Those on the wall dispensers seem like people can add anything to them (from the last time I saw them). Except on cruise ships, those seem like you couldn't contaminate them at all.

If the motive is to protect the environment, I think it is a good decision by the authorities. Most people never get to use those toiletries even when it is part of their hotel bills.
