How come playing video games all day is stigmatized more than watching TV or reading books?

Is one better than the others?

I say that those that play all or if not most of the day are streamers and or they make money from doing it. I mean I would not game all day, if I was twitch streaming then 5 hours or more then yeah. But mostly I stick to 3 hours max.

TIme is not there to game all day anyway. Plus I do like to break away and watch TV and watch films and whatnot in the evening to chill :) gaming gets boring after a while ;)

I don't think there's any real difference between video games and movies/TV etc. I think people are just silly and like to stigmatize things so they can feel above others.

This. I remember back in the 90s where videogames where the same as drugs or something like that.

Now it's a thing since famous people do it in stream.

I think a lot of it is because video games were always considered something that people did because they were lazy or lacked ambition. That it was an escape mechanism for those who were going through crappy situations in real life and wanted somewhere they could spend most of their free time and day enjoying. People do stigmatize books, I can't even begin to tell you how often I've been judged for dabbling into genres that aren't considered 'masculine'.

Doing anything "all day" is probably not a good thing, especially a sedentary activity like playing video games, watching TV, or reading. Switch it up a little. But I really haven't seen any examples of people saying watching TV is better than playing video games.

Watching tv can become very boring after awhile because you're not doing anything. I can't even focus on reading a novel let alone read through a 9th grade English book.

As for video games. You have some control of things that go on within that game. Skyrim for example, you can train up your skills like smithing so you can build weapons and armor. Go on quests to unlock shouts and spells. Go on more quests to get certain weapons. So on and so forth. Things like that kept my attention. I could sink hours into it.

No. Some people prefer to read all day. Some people can sit in front of the tv all day and not feel an ounce of boredom. Eventually I have to get out of the house or take a walk.
