On the 15th of June, we all had to say goodbye to Internet Explorer. After a long run, Microsoft clearly wants Edge to be their primary focus and not have to spend time on IE. Will you miss it?

It wasn’t so bad in the early days, but after awhile it seemed like Microsoft stopped caring and IE stagnated while Chrome and Firefox took over.

I was really surprised to hear about this. I thought this software had been obsolete for years already.

I still find myself wanting to quickly adjust my settings when Microsoft Edge is set as the standard browser.

Like anything else, it was time for an upgrade and I'm not sorry to see it go.

Surprisingly, a few companies and businesses still used IE. We work with a big client that wanted us to test their sites using Internet Explorer until recently which was a bit of a pain. They've changed this to Edge now thankfully

For work projects I always test things out on the major browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and even Brave but I've never considered checking Internet Explorer.

Do you guys remember Netscape Navigator? I remember using them back in the day.

Netscape Navigator became Firefox

I remember learning about how Microsoft went to court for monopolistic practices for having IE installed by default on Windows. Bill Gates retaliated by making it basically impossible to uninstall and said “it’s integral to the Windows operating system”.

Also for awhile IE was the default browser on Macs because that was the deal when Microsoft saved them from bankruptcy.

I’ve certainly known about Edge, but last I remember, Microsoft still had both. Didn’t know they discontinued IE, but can’t say I’m too broken hearted about it.

This was the epicenter of my first browsing experience as a kid. Internet explorer was almost a part of my childhood as an early computer lover. But I had to move on from it really fast to better browsers. Irony is that I am using Edge browser now to post this.
