Have you ever came across a forum with secret forums for certain members?

What goes on in those forums?

Why would a forum have a secret section that isn't visible to guests or even regular members?

I find staff forums to be a common hidden section, which makes sense. However, I do find having sections of a forum hidden to be beneficial in massive communities where I can join sections that I want. E.G. having a large Anime forum that requires joining an Anime Club or Group to see on a forum that isn't really focused on Anime.

I don't really see the need or reason to hide forums for the purpose of denying members access (besides the mentioned staff forums), but I do feel like they can be added correctly and with beneficial goals. Granted, I can't help but feel that they should not show up on forums that don't have thousands of active members.

If it's a forum that's got some staffs members working for the forum owner, there's a need to have staff section which only them would have access to it. It might be visible but with a password for anyone to be granted access to it.

I have a few secret forums on Christianity Haven. One is for men only, one is for women only and then we have another that's for a select group of members that I consider my personal advisors. We take our dirty laundry there to discuss problems on the site, because that stuff doesn't need to be made public.

Whenever I have come across a forum with hidden or secret forums, they are usually forums for VIPs, staff forums or even a forum such as an adult-related forum that is for 18+ only.

I have nothing against these kinds of forums being hidden, the only time I would worry is if a forum was created that looked very suspicious and only certain members were locked out from it.

Most of the time its for staff or contributors that's been there for a while.
