Health insurance is very expensive. Many people do not have adequate health care or pay for expensive treatments years later. Some states provide basic health insurance for all citizenship, but such a system costs a a lotl.

Criminals' plans often fail and they are caught. In doing so, they are often injured in fights with the police or even wounded in a firefight. Bullet injuries require long-term treatment and recovery, operations that cost a lot of moneyl. All this is paid by taxpayers, ie citizens who are not criminals but earn a living by honest work.

Should criminals be charged for the treatment of injuries resulting from criminal acts and firefights?

Every jail should have some sort of reinsertion program. The offender works and pays his/her treatment.

If you can't afford to pay for your injuries for doing the crime, don't do the crime, simple. Yes criminals should have to pay for treatment.

They don't have to pay at place but later when they go out of prison, it can be charged. When they got a job, they will pay it in rates.

I think it has but depends on jail and what they offer. I hear they can get some education to.

Yeah, when the offender comes out from jail what are they gonna do without any sort of education or money to "start a new life"?

I always thought that in the US things like this a not very common since all jails are always full.

Education should be completed before jail, at least if we look normal way of living. High school as minimum plus some extra course. Also I don't think they had money even before jail, otherwise they would not go into criminal activity.

Motivations are not the same. Most people are mentally ill, i bet 3 out of 10 do it because of extreme neccesity.

I know, that is way I say they didn't had money even before jail, otherwise they would not go into criminal activity.
But still I don't think people who pay tax should pay them medical needs. Maybe they because of tax can't pay them self better health care.

JAil for life and get things for free, Hell no. Get them to pay or work for it.

What they can do? I would open laundry system inside of prison or small factory. Also send them to clean canals or collect garbage. It would be good for enviroment to.

Don't they do that already? they should be up for any task tho. Feeding let's say 10k people for free is nuts.

I don't even know. It's funny how this wouldn't be a conversation for many other countries because of free health care. But I guess if others have to pay for health care then so should prisoners

Some people are sent to jail simply because they couldn't afford to pay for a fine (for example, they couldn't afford to pay for the parking ticket they received or something to that effect). If they can't afford to pay for their fines, how do you expect them them to pay for health insurance?

Now, if someone is in jail for a life sentence, put some kind of system in there where they can work for it. They could be forced to do something that is good for the community and still be working instead of sitting on their butt all day at the jail doing nothing.

Those are non violent criminals and I didn't have them on mind. I mean on robbers who are hurted in firefights with police.

I agree with this. Example small factory inside prison for waste management. I think they can sort garbage for few hours per day.

Maybe have their family members pay for it. Jail time back in the old days are far worse and harder then it is nowadays. Get three meals a day for free, Free TV.

I see that in some states things are even worse than here in a 3rd world country..

I'm not a big fan of convicts who went out and violated the rights of others. I don't think it's fair that they do get free healthcare. But according to the state, once someone is incarcerated, they're unable to go out on their own and pay for it. So that's where me and you come in. We're taxed for it and have to pay for them. Is it fair? Nope.
