Should they’re be student loan forgiveness for people who make high grades?

I would say that it would be fortunate if the colleges voided loans instead of making other people pay it. College teachers don't even see a fraction of what colleges make off of their classes. I don't think that's fair.

I’m all for student loan forgiveness, solely because it benefits me. :p

In all seriousness, where does the money for forgiveness come from? Expecting colleges to waive bills… Seems highly unlikely. All these ideas come with the government (whether federal or state) writing a big check to these colleges and the companies servicing the loans, and then we’re essentially paying for that somewhere else in society, whether it’s taxpayer money or straight up inflation.

No, nothing is free, but there should be some sort of forgiveness if you do well. Maybe a better interest rate? :p

Well, there ARE scholarships for students who do well in high school going into college. I'd hate for my tax money to go to the college kids who take classes like square dancing and get an A and want their class paid for.

I did pretty well in high school, received academic scholarships, but also ended up having to take out a few government loans. Someday they’ll make me pay it off. They actually froze loan payments here once again, because of the tornados a few weeks ago.

Anyway, does your state give out free community college? TN started that program the year after I graduated high school. Everyone could get two free years of college, I think they just had to do a little bit of volunteer work. I’m sure our tax dollars pay for that.

I'm not sure about the free community college here. I haven't really heard anything about it. And yeah, nothing is free.

I think College needs to be "re-imagined" since at this point, a lot of the studies are simply worthless when you think about how it impacts your career. When I went to my daughter's college Orientation, they said outright that the kids were there for an "experience" not to just get a job. WRONG!! That's what is so wrong about college these days!! You're supposed to be preparing for your career. No wonder people can't pay back their student loans, they took out a loan for an experience which won't get you ahead in the job center and make 6 figures.

I think colleges need to look at how trade schools are set up and prepare students for their careers. They don't need to learn square dancing. They can pay for that on their own at community centers after they're done studying.

No, I don't buy this idea. A loan is a loan so one need to pay back. but I would write that outstanding students be given a scholarship rather.
