I actually want to see this movie. Yes what makes Snake Eyes so badass is that he is a ninja who doesn’t talk but maybe this is a different take on the origin. My take is that during some mission in the move his throat gets cut or something and he can’t talk.

When his uncle refuses, Storm Shadow signals Zartan to assassinate his uncle. Snake Eyes is shot in the throat by Zartan, to prevent him from warning their master, resulting in his becoming mute.
