I recently learned about the JAMStack and the concept of the static sites where things are low end and more secure as there is not much dynamic content there. So it seems like the static sites are making the comeback. I may consider learning few static site generators in near future.

Have you checked out static sites generator?

I love static sites. They make me think of a simpler time when most websites didn't use databases, and instead people just manually updated a homepage's code to post updates.

Good times! I used to do that when I was younger and mainly using a free website builder called Moonfruit for my sites. I had no idea what the hell dynamic sites were or how to create them back then.

Depending on the purpose of your site, a static site does make sense but most sites nowadays do tend to be dynamic. Even with something as simple as a portfolio, it's just better to create it as a dynamic site than a static site.

I used to love making them with geocities, freewebs, and tripod as a teen!

I really wish they didn't get rid of old sites. I would have loved to have shown you guys my sites that I made with moonfruit!

I mean freewebs and tripod DO still exist, and I used some new wannabe geocities site.

Static sites are too much a hassle to get info on. It's better to use databases and the like - despite the needed security.

Have you ever looked for them here:

Unfortunately I can't remember the URLs for my old sites. I might have to try and login to my old Moonfruit account to see if that could help.

The WayBack machine does work for a few of my old forums though. I think I posted a URL for the old DH before in another thread.

Where? I'm curious to see it.

Oh nice! It got slightly more posts than my old Q-Army forum did, too!
