I get most of my traffic from Facebook. I have facebook pages for my websites. I spend money on advertising on building Facebook page followers. I also boost my posts frequently. After facebook, I get traffic from Twitter. I also get traffic from Google
What are your primary traffic sources?

I am trying not to use social media to build my traffic, I think the people that frequent social media don't often translate in to active forum users. Different audiences.

Twitter is good at getting your content viewed, even if it isn't interacted with.

Intersting.
I'm doing research on traffic sources.
So it would help and also curious if you would share your traffic sources then.

Most of my traffic is from Google properties and Meta properties. So YouTube and search for Google and Facebook and Instagram for Meta.

Facebook is probably the dominating source. It used to be a lot better than it is now. But they rank external links lower. Now I do very low budget low risk daily ads on certain external content to help boost traffic. One thing about about paying for ads, you shouldn't be paying a lot unless you have a goal to earn more than your budget. So that is why I go with a $5 a day type budget. It gets be the amount I'd like to see which is a few thousands views but I make that happen by fully customizing the ad to be seen by a certain segment of viewers.

Quora is an experiment of mine. I'm seeing some traffic from it but not much. However, it does seem to be growing a little more and more now that I am being noticed there.

Forums help here and there but they really have to be niche-specific.

Luckily, I am a local brand so I get local news station interviews, radio interviews and push from universities and cities I have collaborated with. That helps. I have a few .edu backlinks.

I'm trying to get some .gov backlinks, those are a bit harder.

I am ranking page 1 on Google though in key phrases I wanted to rank high in. It took more than 3-years of content, though.

Not sure, I think it is from searches, my site has been around long enough to pull in a good amount.
Just because your site has been around for a long time does not mean you will get traffic from search engines. I am running a site for 6 years, yet it does not get traffic from Google search. IN order to get search traffic, your site should be discovered on search engines, which will happen only when you have done SEO.

I get most of the traffic from the twitter, youtube and few other sites. So the promoting through these places help. I also get some random traffic from some of the forums too. I think getting regular traffic and monetizing is one of the difficult things these days.

Good thing I've done SEO work then :p

I need to get traffic to my Facebook page and whatnot LOL before getting traffic over to the site and yet I have no money for advertisement LOL

I would have to agree with that as well. I haven't bothered with social media sites for DH because it can be hard to promote forums on them.

Other forums tend to be my most successful traffic source.
