A lot has been done in recent years to reduce plastic use but I still believe there is a long way to go yet. Plastic and rubbish is often left in public spaces and is destroying ecosystems and the environment. It is a problem in our attitudes and behaviour to think this is normal or acceptable behaviour. Quite thankfully, it is disgusting to me. I also believe that things such as plastic bags should be removed altogether and more should be done to reduce consumption of bottled water.

What are your thoughts on plastic? Do we really need so much?

I do agree that we should avoid plastic as much as possible.

Here is the thing, most of the people who use plastic stuff like spoons, plates and other kitchen stuff are usually poor people. They just can't afford to get the expensive stuff like steel etc.

So I don't really blame them for using the material and others should try to donate these things to others. I know that, not many would like the idea but we can't make poor people get the expensive stuff, forcibly. After the Corona lockdown, I came to know just how bad their condition really is. This is just my opinion.

I think major companies should try and be the forefront of reduced plastic use or plastic alternatives. Seems to be only small companies trying to move away from plastic packaging.

So many companies are wasteful in general, and not just with plastic. Amazon are awful for their use of boxes. Use huge boxes for tiny things or put boxes in boxes.

I laugh at the majority of Amazon packaging. At least their boxes and paper packing can be reused.

I reuse the boxes sometimes. But most of the time they go in the recycling bin (minus the address label which is shredded). As does the paper insert.

First of all , most companies use plastics because of it's cheap price , but they fail to understand that plastics , are not biodegradable .
I believe , if government can give a directives on the products , that should not be made with plastics , and as well be strict with it , it will go a long way in helping .
We can as well help , by avoiding some of the plastic products.

No, we don't need as much plastic. It roughly takes 1,000 years to decompose in landfills. One example is the Fruit and Veg section of supermarkets. Why can't retailers sell all of their produce without plastic, individually? A lot can be done to prevent unnecessary harm to the environment.

I think they do it to keep the fruit and veg fresher for longer. But they should use plastic made from natural fibres and that is 100% biodegradable or compostable.

I think a lot of progress would be made if stores stop selling plastic bottles for water, if they did that then things would be cut down fast.

There are some countries around the world where you can't consumer tap water or otherwise, you may start to feel unwell. I'm trying to think of alternatives that manufacturers could use instead of Plastic. Glass sounds a good idea but is this suitable and sustainable?

What are your thoughts?

Plastic is big problems especially in oceans. But there will be even more plastics since many people use plastic covers as protection from Covid-19. Those mask can last but when they are broken it will just go into garbage.

Personally, I would like to see us go back to what used to be done; granted, some of it can be modified. If we use reusable fabric bags more often, then that would reduce the use of the plastic bags. If we reusable bottles made out of glass or metal, they could be sent back to the manufacturer to be disinfected and refilled.

It's great that the UK has now banned plastic bags and gone for reusable or paper bags. We need a lot more work though because it's crazy how much excessive plastic is used to package some products

Can you buy some recycled forks or straws in your stores? I can't find anywhere in my area. Only classic plastic which can be recycled easy. I hear you bought some from wood or other organic materials.

I agree that it's an obvious problem. The industry is using way too much of it and some countries have dumped mass amounts of plastic in the ocean, which was a really bad idea, which is now washing up on the shores and killing animals. It's really causing a whole mess of new problems because now we have a bigger mess to clean up which is going to cost more money and manpower.
