Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)

I hope it's better than the first one. We'll just have to see.
What didn't you like about it?

I can't wait to watch this! I liked the first one and hopefully, this is even better than that one. Would be interesting to watch it in 3D

I did like the first one. But I always think the sequel should do better than the original because no one wants a bad sequel. So I'm hoping it goes above and beyond expectations.

Ah got it. Fingers crossed ?

I really like the actors from the first movie. Tom Hardy was perfect for the role of Venom.

I really like Woody Harrelson. He was great in Zombie Land. I think he can play just about any role given to him. I just never expected him to be one of Marvel's most notorious villains. But HE can do it. If anyone's qualified to play the role of Carnage. It's him.

I have a lot of faith that this movie is going to be a big hit.

Tom Hardy is the reason I actually watched Venom. It wasn't really something I ever thought of before but came across it on Netflix and had to watch it

The only thing I didn't like about Venom was the horrible 'deep' voice he tried to use when talking as the symbiote. They couldn't synthesize something that sounded more menacing?

I agree. The voice came off a little silly. Especially his "turd in the wind" quote was completely off the wall especially when he said "on second thought" and then he eats the guy ripping off the cash register. I also felt there was no point to it at all.

Tom Hardy went into the store and waited to feed this particular guy to Venom to begin with. He knew that guy was bad news and he only feeds bad people to Venom. So the idea of threatening someone when you're going to kill them anyway just goes way way over my head.

Why have Venom threaten him before he eats him?

Does fear have something to do with making human flesh taste better?

or was it meant to make people laugh?

But other than that scene. Most of the movie was good.

You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable is each other...

Big fan of the movie?

Venom already fought an enemy like Carnage in the first film. I'm just wondering how Carnage will differ as it's not that much stronger than Venom. If I can recall. Venom ate him.

Carnage is a true villain whilst Venom falls somewhere in the gray area of an anti-hero. He still has a moral compass; whereas, Carnage does not. Carnage does not concern himself if bystanders or innocents are killed during his fights. Venom sometimes kills, most times not, hindered by the moral compass of Eddy.

It's out of control much like a rabid dog. Cletus can't control Carnage because he's not mentally coherent.

Cletus Kasady suffers from severe mental illness. It would be easy for Carnage to control him. Much like how Riot was in the first film with his host body.

According to Marvel, Cletus suffers from Acute Schizoaffective Disorder which is also referred to as Paranoid Schizophrenia. His mind is so far gone that he has no self control.

Which is interesting because he doesn't control Carnage. It controls him. He doesn't have the mental clarity of controlling such an advanced life form. He's no more a passenger to Carnage then he is in his own mind. Often people with Acute Schizoaffective Disorder believe they're in control when they're actually not. They have the usual indicators such as depression, anxiety, violent acting-out, and delusional disorder.

But I imagine because of Cletus's mental instability is as of why Carnage is so volatile.

While a valid point, I don't think it delves too deeply into that. I think that both host and symbiote thrive in violence and thus commit atrocious acts.

You ever wonder if Sony will bring Knull, the god and creator of the symbiotes, into the film franchise?

If they're going to do that, they need to bring Oblivion into the universe as well. I have a feeling we're going to gradually see more of the god/goddesses of the various universes with the upcoming Eternal film. I'm hoping to see Gladiator myself.
