I am trying to justify this want and could use some additional ideas. Some that I've come up with myself:

- Stream video apps (e.g. Netflix, Shudder, Prime Video, HBO Max, etc)
- Manage photos
- Osmo (one of my daughter's favorite apps)
- Visit forums of course
- Look up/use recipes
- Apple Fitness + So I can workout in any room without requiring a TV or struggle with the size of my phone
- Movies for my toddler for our long road trips
- Facetime would be nicer with the bigger screen with friends/family

What else? :)

I'd buy a tablet for just 2 reasons:

1. I can't afford a laptop for work.
2. I travel a lot and i want some media entertainment.

Other than that it's just a waste of money, invest in a laptop or a phone instead.

I have multiple tablets (I like playing with different operating systems), but I primarily use them for browsing the web or watching videos with a bigger screen than my phone, and I don't find having a laptop in my lap on the couch as comfortable, or I'm just laying in bed.

This might shock people who are big into PC gaming, but I don't enjoy sitting behind a desk and using a computer as my sole source of entertainment. So it's nice just sitting on the couch with the TV on, and just lazily browsing the web, and tablet OS's are more convenient for simple browsing as opposed to using a "real" computer.

I went ahead and did it you guys. Justified the price by dividing it by the number of hours I plan on spending with it for next 365 days. Totally worth it in my opinion. :)

I do not have an Ipad but do own myself a single Tablet with android 11 on it :)
  • Watch films in bed,
  • YouTube
  • Have the Twitch app open with the chat display as I'm streaming

The experience is not the same I feel like, using the iPad for reading tends to make my eyes more tired in comparison to when I use my Kindle Oasis.

I don't see much of a difference between using my Kindle Fire and reading a physical book. My eyes will still get tired all the same because my eyes are having to focus on reading, especially when it's really small print.

I much prefer reading a physical book myself but the kindle is just so convenient. I can literally have hundred of titles at the palm of my hands.

I don't have an iPad anymore. I used to and I'd read on it and watch videos but I found myself sat at my computer more and more to a point where I didn't use it much so I went ahead and sold it.

I haven't bothered with a tablet.

I received a really crap one for free once when I got a phone but it was left aside without getting used much. And my current laptop is a HP Envy x360 so I can essentially turn it into a tablet when I need to and I barely use that feature so a tablet would be a waste of money (for me anyway)

For others, it could be useful in places like the kitchen where you can have a recipe video or some random YT clips playing whilst you cook.

Tbh, most convertibles are trash at being tablets. Part of it is the bulk, and the other is the size. There’s also the awkwardness of clicking on the keyboard while you’re holding it. I had an iPad folio keyboard case, and I couldn’t stand pressing the keys while holding it, so I got rid of it.
