The death penalty for most crimes, including murder was suspended in 1965 and then abolished in 1969, but you could still, in theory, be given a death sentence for a few crimes like treason up until 1998.
It really all depends on where in the world you are as well. A few hundred dollars, euro, or pounds in cold hard cash will get you a hell of a lot further in a lot of places than all of the credit cards you can dream of.
I don't really get this, how do you save money by not using cash?
I've never seen a discount for paying by card, either the price is the same or some places offer a cash discount in my experience.
Maybe it's just because I don't use any cards that have big rewards programs.
I've actually done that once. I found some car keys in the sand on the beach and was wondering what to do with them but noticed that there was a little police station just across the road. I have no idea if anyone came to claim them but I felt good about it.

It's interesting that so many people here have closed social media accounts, I keep my Facebook account mostly because it makes it much easier to sign up for and log in to other things.

A little bit off of the topic, but I hate it when any online services want me to have their own app and limit the features I can use just in my web browser, facebook, instagram, linkedin, etc. it drives me nuts and is part of the reason I very rarely visit any of them.
The internet is a wonderful thing, democratizes publishing, give access to education, and should in theory guarantee a freedom of information that is hard to censor (yes I know the last bit doesn't always hold true)
