Are forum websites dying or is there

pretty sad that people are giving Zuckerberg all the attention while letting us small sites die.

Facebook isn't even that good it's just easy to brainwash people and the timing from MySpace being unstable at the time.
Yeah its just sad.

Basically, this. Facebook only got to where it was because it's only competition happened to be shitting the bed at the time. It's not even a good site... hell it's not even an "ok" site lmao if myspace didn't sell and it kept up to date, facebook would never have stood a chance.

V bulletin use to be a big thing back in 2008
So did phpBB, and where is that now ;)

Getting people to come to forums and post is HARD, it's really easy to lose heard and wonder if it is worth it.

On days when our fourm gets more than about 15 posts I get excited, and that is a pretty low bar.

You’re correct! People was just desperate to find something similar at the time it was just luck and now everyone use to sitting on the terrible site.

I haven’t heard of PhpBB either ? that use to be huge too

my forum is lucky to get 6 posts in a day and me starting it in 2021 is a bad mistake I’m starting to think and that’s sad you deserve more posts.

Pretty much. Funny how those days were considered decentralized with a site like myspace there.

There’s a good point though we blame Facebook for forums going down but even back then there was a MySpace so I think forums just fake hard work before we make it.

It was HUUUUGE back in the day, It's still out there, just checked and a new version was released last week.

Aww, thanks. You are too kind :D
I remember using it in 2009 I was choosing between phpbb and mybb I ended up going with phpbb hahahagsg

And anytime :)

I tend to find no time for my forum anymore, and it's dead. Like I said Forums get alive if you work at it. Nowadays only way to get Forums to be busy, you pay members to post every day.

I know when Site/forum and all members from there are getting paid to post, very costly. The owner has to pay $100s to $1000s a month paying people to post.

StrimSocial they called it.

and that’s the issue they want an active forum but they need to be active in order for the forum to be that :(
Thanks, Fait. Looks like another generic social network using a template, to be honest. The Google reviews are all 5 stars with generic wording which makes me think they're all fake lol.

I’ve never used it because it peed me off when I saw it, Really really annoying that there’s terrible generic websites get big while us deccent sites struggle just because where a forum.

Where did you find out about the stats by the way?

I mean, just having a look at the reviews that might be fake, I would be inclined to say that some of the users that they have are fake too.

482C85BE-D5DD-47F2-84E8-A24E697C361F.pngOver at Twitter which doesn’t make any sense at all because for 300K apparent users they only get 6 likes on their Twitter?

Forums are not as popular as they once were. Now social media rules the roost. I don't know why as forums are friendlier in my opinion. Posts don't get lost in the shuffle & boards can be organized. A newbie's intro post can get shoved down as soon as others start talking about something else.
I had a forum 15 some years ago & the difference between then & now, my members didn't have their own forum, site, or blog. Now, people help each other out but there's a lot of burnout.
Funny story, last year when I told my husband I thought of creating another forum, he said: They still have those? lol

What is the point of that, do they make a lot from advertising on the site or something, or is it just bleeding money?

They’re definitely not easy to get going now they’re just hobbies now unfortunately.

people have been manipulated in to using things like Facebook even though the CEO does so many stuff ups and people still bow to him.
