Lucky youThe good news is at least it doesn’t cost as much money or bandwidth to keep it up!
For now, until my site grows!Lucky you
I was censored for speaking my mind a few times and nothing I said was aggressive by nature so I personally don't see the hype with reddit, I do get Facebook all though facebook was originally designed for friends so i am glad forums can't replace traditional forums completely.Like others before me have said, sites like Facebook and Reddit (mainly Reddit) have taken a lot of traffic from smaller forums. However, a lot of people dislike the karma system that Reddit has in place, which is the real feather in the cap of many forums today. There's also the fact that Reddit moderators seem to censor a lot of content for seemingly no reason, which may cause some people to turn to alternative online speaking grounds.
I'd also like to add forums offer a much more personal experience than on sites liked Reddit. On Reddit, there's more of a focus on the content at-hand, and with a lack of prominent profile pictures or any sort of deep customization, on top of the upvote system, you sometimes feel like you're looking at a page full of hive-minded individuals. Forums, however, allow their users to customize their profiles and accounts a bit more, leading to an ultimately more personal experience with the members there. There's also the fact that on forums, you're more likely to encounter differing opinions, which many may prefer, even if those opinions strongly conflict with their own.
Even with these advantages, smaller forums simply can't compete with larger sites in terms of popularity, so forums have had to adapt a little to stay afloat, borrowing features and mechanics from sites like Facebook, in addition to creating unique mechanics, such as leveling systems or other forms of ranking.
YouTube is the only decent video site, TikTok is a combination of YouTube & snap gone wrong but everybody still likes. The only site that i really like is Twitter since you can speak whatever you have in mind obviously with some respect and basically nobody cares lol
But other than that, i'm not interested in following stupid video reels.
I found Flarum it takes a bit of getting use to but I don’t mind it tbh, it’s from my home country Australia.Forums are slower for sure but many are still online and somewhat active, I still enjoy them.
Amazing to hearMight be just me but I find that niche forums do a great deal better than the general discussion forums. My friend has a forum that is strictly about all types of domestic pets and exotic animals. Her site from the get-go had members signing up quicker than she could make topics. It's booming now.

The more niche forums can definitely work out well, especially for topics where there aren't that many forums for. With regards to your friend's forum, I guess it also helps quite a bit that pets and animals have a huge market so you have quite a lot of people to target.Might be just me but I find that niche forums do a great deal better than the general discussion forums.
