I think I know why I always have to work the holidays. There's only me and another gentleman that work in my dept. and the other guy can't work the computer. So, I get stuck working the holiday because they expect to be busy on the holiday since there is a lot of people that get the holiday off.

Honestly, it seems like you're pretty important to them and they don't want to lose you so you should try to demand some time off during the holidays. It's always easier for me to say that than having to actually do it of course but they really need to do better.

Yeah, I think you are right, however, they have a funny way of showing how much they appreciate you. I haven't gotten a raise in over 2 1/2 years. All of this has a lot to do with why I'm looking for employment elsewhere. I understand they are open most holidays but they could swap people out so that the same people aren't working ever single freaking holiday. And they could give people a raise once in a while. There are people that have been there not that long at all and they are making more money than I am (I've been with this company for 13 1/2 years.

I went to a restaurant once with my hubby and we never got service so we walked out. They weren't busy when we were there either. There was maybe 3 other people in there eating at the time.

Wow, that's really not good. You definitely need to do something then since it's extremely unfair that the new starters are already getting paid more than you. A lot of companies seem to be struggling to find people to hire so I guess it's a good chance to look for new jobs.

I won a writing contest when I was in 5th grade (if I remember correctly). One of the things my English teacher did at the time was we'd have to occasionally write in our journals. I think one of our "journal" entries was participating in that local writing contest and I think mine actually did well. The teacher brought it up in class and gave me my prize my placement in the contest.

I wasn't a whole lot. I got a poster and a couple of other little knick knacks that I can't remember.

Actually.....yes. All my co-workers will tell you it is as well. Whenever someone wants a sign made at work, they bring it to me to write it out instead of doing it themselves.
