We had that problem a little while ago where we got like 100 fake registrations in less than a day. But it seems to have been sorted out now with our new special anti-spam question.

No Activity. One I joined & the last activity was a couple of years ago!
No Admin. Admin needs to be on regularly to moderate.
Too 'busy'. Having too many boards & no discussions.

Toxic users. It’s not fun being around people who are Negative Nancy’s about everything.

I used to see this a lot on forums through FP where someone wants more activity, and the admin/mods just ignore anyone new posting.

I joined a forum last week and made my intro thread and shortly after quit the forum. Instead of welcoming me, several members posted such things as "Go home Yank" or "You're in the wrong place Yank. Who in their right mind would stay on a forum like that....Oh wait, I guess no one there is in their right mind.

When there is a camouflage The title says something but the contents have nothing to do with the title.

One thing for me is intrusive advertising: Autoplay ads and videos can be incredibly disruptive, especially when they obscure content.
