Sometimes we just don't have the time for our online projects so we decide to sell a blog or forum. But do you think the user's experience is impacted massively when the site gets a new owner? As a seller, does that matter to you?

If the owner of the board has no time to work and stay active and the site becomes inactive or just no staff members around to keep it following then I say it will get so bad that they might as well sell the site to another person who has far more free time and can put the work into the site and get it p and running again.

Most of the time I see more often than they sell or close it down as they lost interest rather than having less free time on their hands. The best bet for anyone that has no time and wants to keep it, hire more staff or hire an admin to take on the challenge. Look for someone who is willing to put the work in, also someone that has nothing else going on like running his own site.

I have not sold and sell-up any sites in my time, so no idea how that goes.

If I had to sell I would love for it to be under the same care that I gave it, but I know there are few like me in the digital world, so I know I sell my site to a lesser admin :(
If there is money to be made then I think that the new person will take care of it as they will not want to lose the money/income

I have sold many websites. The only thing that concerns me is whether the new owner is getting as much traffic as I was receiving, or earning as much money as I was earning.

Once you sold the site, that's it. You should not need to worry about it and move on.

You have a point but people buy sites for two main reasons, traffic, and revenue. If they don't receive the same kind of traffic and revenue, they might rate me badly and my reputation as a seller might be at stake.

True, I have seen that happen and they failed to keep it going

In my honest opinion, if you own a forum and you don't have time to operate it and give it the attention it needs, you should definitely sell it to someone who has the time to put into it. Without the proper attention, all your hard work will drastically fail and the forum will start out from phase one again. This may impact members because change affects a lot of people, but sometimes it's for the best.

I once sold a forum to someone however it shortly went offline due to inactivity. It was sad to find out because I spent many hours on it but it is a project I couldn't dedicate myself to 100% and I sincerely thought having a new owner would be better.

To be fair, that's still on them. As long as you gave them the correct stats and information before the sale, if they ruin it afterwards, that's on them. I doubt anyone would go after you as a seller because of that

I sell through flippa, I have a 100 percent track record, this helps me in my future sales. Well, it is not possible to make everyone happy but I try to help the new owner so that he continues to receive the same kind of traffic and reveue. I offer after-sell support.
