Russia will suffer a lot in terms of economy, SWIFT has been taken away, meaning that companies like Gazprom can't sell in Europe, meaning that only China and other socialist states will be their only customers.Heh, this is just over oil. Fear the future when there is conflict over water and other base stuff.
Tbh it kind of is about water at the same time. Ukraine cut off the one source of water to Crimea, and they’re running out.Heh, this is just over oil. Fear the future when there is conflict over water and other base stuff.

Not any more. Russian troops have destroyed the dam that was blocking 80% of the fresh water to Crimea.Tbh it kind of is about water at the same time. Ukraine cut off the one source of water to Crimea, and they’re running out.
Putin cannot be allowed to carry on in this manor. We should treat him in the exact same way we did Sadam Hussain and his “Weapons of mass distraction”.
Oh I know - which is absolutely appalling. If ever there was a man that needs removing from power, this is it.
President Vladimir Putin took "unprecedented" post-Cold War action Sunday by ordering his nuclear deterrent forces to be on alert as international tensions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine spiraled.
Putin said in a meeting of top officials shown Sunday on state TV that the move, which means the country’s nuclear weapons are prepared for increased readiness to launch, was in response to NATO powers’ making what he called “aggressive statements.”
Russia, like the U.S. and NATO, has thousands of nuclear warheads that it maintains as a deterrent to an attack.
I don't think the US can do anything right now. If the US sends troops over to Ukraine, we risk Russia firing off a nuclear warhead and deal with their allies.

Completely agreed, and what courage to stay in the heart of the capital, knowing he'd be trapped and encircled. A true example for his people, stand and fight. Leadership by example, how rare! The president of Ukraine currently has a 90% approval rating, that has to be some kind or record. I think he is doing a great job and handling the entire situation about as well as anyone possibly could.
This is about much more than oil. Crimea might have been about oil, but invading Ukraine in its entirety mostly has to do with countering any attempt to include Ukraine into NATO. Controlling important gas pipelines that go through Ukraine (from Russia to the rest of Europe) is just sweetening on the top.Heh, this is just over oil. Fear the future when there is conflict over water and other base stuff.
Most Ukrainians are of course descendants of former citizens of the Soviet Unions, but it is not correct that most Ukrainians are descendants of Russians. Most Ukranians are ethnic Ukrainians, not ethnic Russians, and have two distinct historical and cultural backgrounds.Do not be fooled, Ukraine tried to banish the Russian influence in Ukraine, banning even the Russian language. I know they always had problems with the Russians, but most people there are descendants of former Soviet Russians.. it's a pretty dense subject tbh.
According to the constition of NATO it's to protect NATO member states not the world in general.Genuine question: is the point of NATO to deter Russian aggression in general? Or is the point to deter Russian aggression against NATO?
Wow, all the best to your wife, she's so brave heading to Ukraine in the current climate! Hoping for the best for her!I wish you all the best and pray that you will all be safe. I wish we in Germany would have helped you more. My wife is from Kyiv and she has a flight scheduled this morning since several weeks and she'll take it. I'm frightened about her safety. I want to join her in March. I wished she would just stay here but I understand she wants to be with her family in Ukraine.
