Work in retail?

That would have been funny if he didn't have that same annoying track playing in the background. I can't even begin to tell you how horrible it was working retail. It's the one job that no one wants and yet someone has to work it. You spend most of your day listening to people complain about the price on something, when they know it isn't right in the beginning. I got 'coached' by managers on how to sell my store's credit card. I wanted so badly to tell them that no = no. People do not come in the store to be bugged 7 times during a transaction for a card. 30% is nice but it by no means moves most people to get a card.

They even threatened to cut my hours at one point if I didn't start 'selling' the card. Didn't matter if the person was approved or not, they just had to apply.
 
We have a credit card also but luckily the don't make us push them here where I work at. I can tell you that would drive me crazy. There was a place that I worked at before that had a membership where you get perks in the store and coupons sent to you in the mail and all that. We had to sign up so many people or try to get people to use their membership card. You had to ring up a certain % of your transactions with the discount card or you got wrote up. I hated doing that because no one wanted to sign up for it because they were "too busy".
 
I have never worked in retail and I honestly would never want to. The stress and the karens you would have to deal with is just not for me. I have a lot of admiration for anyone that works in retail because I could never do it!

This is the bad thing about working in retail.....dealing with the Karen's.

I actually had a guy in the store yesterday that said that the bb guns I had were too much and that he was going to go somewhere else to buy his bb gun. It instantly made me think of this video in the original post. My hubby and I even laughed about it when I told him about the incident.

Yup, I've worked in retail.. I've felt the pain.. and for some crazy reason I've recently gone back during the pandemic as a second job! Glutton for punishment, me.

I'm slowly making my way through all of the supermarkets.. Safeway, Sainsbury's, ASDA, and now Tesco.

I'm certainly not going to continue with 2 jobs forever.. It remains to be seen whether or not I do another Christmas at Tesco honestly. The problem is now I've got used to the extra money ?

I've started looking at other IT jobs, but I haven't applied for anything yet.
 
I couldn't do 2 jobs, especially a second retail job. I'd be pulling my hair out, especially around Christmas. Yikes! I can see having the extra money when it's needed.

Well, as long as you have a job keep it till you get something you really want to apply for.
 
I have worked in retail for really short periods but just couldn't deal with the idiocy and rudeness of customers, I don't have the patience for it and I admire everyone who does.

I switched to logistics, fewer people and more boxes, boxes are often nicer than people.
 
@Demon_skeith The place that I applied to the other day has called me back and we've scheduled an interview for Thursday. It's in manufacturing, which I have experience in. Plus, it's suppose to be Monday through Friday, no weekends or holidays. I'll basically have the same hours as my hubby if I land this job. Wish me luck! *fingers crossed*
