What's the worst thing you can say to a depressed person?

"everything is gonna be fine" or "you have nothing to worry about". Everybody wants to tell you that you have just to give up everything and try again in other side.

Worst thing you can do is shame them and tell them that it's their fault that they're sad. That's what my dad did to me when I was depressed. He told me to quit feeling sorry for myself and stop with my pity party. He didn't care about my feelings.

Here's a few:

¨Just be happy, stop being over dramatic.¨
¨It's just a phase calm down¨
¨You're just looking for attention.¨
¨You have it better than most people.¨

"You'll get over it" Because it infantilizes (or just generally shrinks) issues that may be more to some than it is to others, everyone is different and can tolerate and cope differently, so this phrase is really toxic.

It's A Me, Mario!
I personally hate “it gets better”, it does get better but I hate when people say that to me when I’m in a major depressive episode. Idk why, it just upsets me even more

So, according to the above list, virtually everything that most people are subconsciously trained to think of as supportive.

As someone who has suffered severe depression for years. I have almost committed suicide a few time. The last one I left a suicide note and almost did it. Thankfully I have a strong mindset and stopped myself from doing that.
I have burned myself in the past because of my depression. So I have been through it and I have said this statement.
Because I know whats it like to go through it and it does a get better. So I explain this along with the statement.

We should try to help the person with depression and try to make them calm and feel comfortable
